Today Witan Pacific is an investment trust that invests in the Asia Pacific region (including Japan). It uses an active multi manager approach to add value and diversify risk. The trust has survived all of the major tribulations of the twentieth century:

  • 1907 General Investors and Trustees Ltd (GIT) – At launch investing in a diverse range of assets
  • 1929 Wall Street Crash. GIT avoided the worst, having shifted out of Equities and into Cash, Treasury Bills and British Government Securities
  • 1975 GIT merged with City and Gracechurch Investment Trust
  • 1984 GIT Renamed F&C Pacific Investment Trust – reflecting a new Asian Pacific investment policy
  • 2005 Adopted a multi-manager approach, with Witan Investment Services taking on the executive manager role and changing its name to Witan Pacific Investment Trust
